3D AR CONTENTS

Augmented reality, which is in the limelight in the metaverse era, is a technology that superimposes virtual objects on the real world users see with their own eyes.

In other words, it is a computer graphics technique that synthesizes virtual objects or data in the real environment to make them look like objects that exist in the real environment. Augmented reality, unlike virtual reality, which presupposes a complete virtual world, is the key to further increasing the effect of reality by combining a virtual object with the real world.

Among the technologies related to augmented reality, occlusion means a technology that hides a virtual object behind a real object. The biggest problem AR technology has to solve is to reduce the sense of difference from reality, and this is where occlusion technology comes in. Since virtual objects do not recognize objects in the real world, even if they are behind the real objects, they always appear in front of them.

Solution of DO2's occlusion is a method that treats occlusion masks on the objects by 3D mapping of the environment in advance. Occlusion is created by extracting the angular points based on coordinate data such as terrain and features of spatial data obtained using drone 3D mapping technology, and combining with DSM (digital surface model) on spatial data, and creating 3D objects through virtual objectification transformation, and rendering the created object with a transparent mask.

Using this method, an object can be accurately created based on the user's current location, and also using the drone 3D mapping technology, occlusion masking of a wide space (long-distance) at a lower cost compared to a radar or lidar scan can be generated.

AR Registration

When implementing augmented reality, virtual objects are combined with the real world environment to further increase the effect of reality, and the combination of these two worlds is called 'registration'.

Among them, the tracking system is a technology that calculates the size, angle, and position of a space through a certain method in an image for registration of the virtual world and the real world. Since augmented reality is a technology that provides a new experience to users through appropriate interaction at the boundary between the real world and virtual reality, the immersion will vary according to how well the size, angle, and location of space in the image of the real world is apprehended and connected to the virtual world.

DO2 specifies an exact location in the real world through a tracking system solution called 3-point, 2-point, and 1-point recognition registration technology by utilizing a user device, and creates a virtual augmented reality (AR) space within the device based on the specified location. For one-point or two-point registration, registration can be done with one or two-control points, making user recognition processing easy. For 3-point registration, the error rate is the same regardless of the distance to the control points. In addition, two-point and three-point registration has the advantage that it can be applied to the entire area, such as short distance or long distance.
